CARD DRIVE, KNOCKGRAFFON CARDS 

Winners on Wednesday December 17 were Mary Anne Healy / Eileen White with 14 games and in second place with 12 games were father & son team John Paul O’Dwyer and John O’Dwyer. Thank you to the committee who put on a great Christmas party evening with pressie and food galore. A big thank you to Joan Looby who provided some of the lovely festive food. The committee would like to take this opportunity to wish all the players a Happy & Holy Christmas and good health and good luck for all in the New Year. Please note cards resume Wednesday January 7 at 8.30pm.

LAGGANSTOWN CRIB BLESSING

was held on Sunday Dec 21, where the crossroads pump used to be. The crowd – young and not so young. Another Lagganstown community “gathering”.  Cold dry evening, hats, scarves, gloves. Mc on the night Cyril Fitzgerald along with his wife Sandra, oration by Fr Mattie Mcgrath. A crib with beautiful figures, a not so silent night! Carol singing by the Women’s group, heartfelt poetry by Paddy O’Connor (Belvue) who recited a piece titled “The Crib in Lagganstown” written by Paddy himself. Michael Boland spoke about the significance of Solstice night, emphasizing themes of light and the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Crib with 100-night lights flickering – representing our deceased loved ones. Fantastic generosity with donation of non-perishables to worthy local charity, Cuan Saor in Clonmel. Breeda Bell spoke about Cuan Saor and how important the service is and how the evening’s contribution would help.  Children’s eyes filled with awe and wonder and lots more – a birthday celebration that brought everyone together. Well done to all involved and a huge thanks to all who support and make this tradition very special and something to be proud of.

We are thrilled to announce that our Christmas Concert at the Church of Our Lady Queen, held on December 2 in New Inn, raised an incredible €2,550! The raffle alone made another €1000. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported this event. Your generosity will greatly assist in the renovation of our church in the Parish of New Inn & Knockgraffon.

Thank you for your continued support & friendship as without it, this wonderful little tradition of ours simply wouldn’t happen!

THE PARISH LINKS ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Parish Links held their annual Christmas party on December 14 at the NICC, celebrating the festive season with community members. Special thanks to Michael Kearney and his staff for the delicious meal.
The Christmas cake, generously supplied by Mary O’Donnell of New Inn, was highly praised by all. Entertainment included Eddie Golden’s wonderful songs and performances by Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal musicians, featuring singer Eliza Hogan. The “Burgess School” Irish dancers, including Emma O’Driscoll and sisters Grace, Ruth, and Emily O’Dwyer, captivated the audience. Notably, Grace O’Dwyer qualified for the World Championships in Chicago in April 2026, while Kate O’Dwyer from “On Your Toes” showcased her World championship dances.
The committee acknowledged local businesses for their generous support  : Smith O’Mahony Opticians, then from Cahir: Klazzy Lady, O’Brien Pharmacy, Cahir Credit Union, Morrison Pharmacy, Super Valu. From Cashel: Martin O’Dwyer Butchers, Centenary Co-Op, SuperValu, O’Dwyer Chemist, Darcy’s, Friary Chemist and
Special recognition goes to the hard-working committee for their unwavering dedication in organising this cherished event year after year, as well as the Hall committee for their invaluable support.
The event also provided a chance for parishioners to reconnect and build new relationships. The committee thanks all attendees and wishes everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year!

PADDY MCGRATH MEMORIAL POOL COMPETITION

Noel Norris Clinches Victory! In a thrilling conclusion to the Paddy McGrath Memorial Pool Competition, Noel Norris has emerged victorious after six weeks of intense competition among 32 players. The final match, held on Saturday, December 13, showcased a remarkable showdown between Noel and Vincent Ryan (Cooper). The prestigious memorial cup was presented to Noel by Pat O’Dwyer at Barron’s Pub in New Inn. This victory holds special significance for Noel, as Paddy McGrath was his Godfather. Congratulations to all participants and organisers for making the event a memorable success.

SANTA COMES TO NEW INN

Santa Claus will be taking time out of his busy festive schedule to visit Ollie’s in New Inn on Sunday, 14 December, from 3.30pm to 6pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for children and families in the community to experience the magic of Christmas together. During the event, each child will have the chance to meet Santa and receive a special gift. There will also be a photo opportunity, allowing families to capture lasting memories of this special occasion. The festivities will continue with lively storytelling sessions and disco music to keep everyone in high spirits. Entry is €5 per child, with no booking required. All are welcome to join in what promises to be a fantastic afternoon filled with Christmas cheer and joy for all ages!

ST VINCENT DE PAUL

The annual St Vincent De Paul collection will take place this Sunday December 7 at both New Inn and Knockgraffon churches. The St Vincent de Paul (SVP) Ireland is part of an international Christian voluntary network dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing practical assistance to people in need. Founded in Ireland in 1844, it helps to foster diverse and inclusive connections, as a Society that is welcoming of people of all faiths and none. Your support would be greatly appreciated!

 

PARISH LINKS CHRISTMAS PARTY

The annual Christmas Party for senior citizens will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 12 noon at New Inn Community Centre. Invitations have been sent out last week.  If you are from the parish and do not receive an invitation, please contact any of the following: Esther at 086 3583719, Mary at 086 3821809, Margaret at 0527462132 / 087 6369279, or a committee member. Places are limited, and those from outside New Inn/Knockgraffon parish are welcome to join for a cost of €25 per person. It’s important to inform us of your attendance for preparations. Join us for a delightful day filled with festive cheer and music by our very own Eddie Golden.

The Woman’s Group recently made a presentation to the Irish Cancer Society, a cheque for €800. This donation was raised through the proceeds of their successful coffee morning and raffle event.
